We’re weeks away from the gates opening at the 2022 Sanctuary Cove International Boast Show, and by now we have a good idea of what all the big boat makers plan to put on display.
The annual Sanctuary Cove event is more than just an Australian boat show for luxury motor yacht makers. Each year the two big local rivals, Riviera and Maritimo, go head to head with new-model rollouts and exciting concepts that are yet to hit the water.
Likewise, overseas makes recognise the strength of the Australian motor yacht market and are more than prepared to give buyers worldwide the first taste of their new products using Sanctuary Cove as the launchpad.
So, what can we expect to see at this year’s show? Let’s take a look at the major brands and look at what we know they will have.
Riviera will have 12 motor yachts on display as part of its only official Australian boat show appearance this year.
Of those, the new flagship Riviera 78 Motor Yacht and the equally newly minted Riviera 4600 Sport Yacht Platinum Edition will take pride of place in the on-water display as part of their official global debuts.
However, there may yet be another unexpected addition to the show, with Riviera believed to be revealing yet another new model either just before the show officially kicks off, or shortly after.
Rivera’s cross-town rival, Maritimo, will have three new models on show as part of its line-up. We will get our first look at both the Maritimo S600 Offshore sedan and flybridge-equipped Maritimo M600 Offshore, as well as the new-generation Maritimo M60 – all of which we’re seeing for the first time.
Maritimo will also have the M55 flybridge, S55 sedan and X50 Sport on show.
Sanctuary Cove is home turf for Maritimo, with Maritimo lead designer Tom Barry-Cotter hinting that it too will have something special to show come the opening day of the event.
Princess Yachts is on a roll in Australia as the British luxury motor yacht marque continues to update its showroom of products.
At Sanctuary Cove, the brand will have six of its cruisers on display, with one having a special showing – Sanctuary Cove will officially mark the global debut of the flybridge-equipped F55 motor yacht.

Joining it on the water will be the F50 and F62 flybridge motor yachts, and three models from Princess’ dynamic V-Class, the V45, V50 and V60.
Another world debut shining the global spotlight on Australia is the all-new Ocean Alexander 28 Explorer, a new generation of the former 27E.
This boat has all the internal volume of the motor yacht it replaces but adds much more outdoor versatility via some clever thinking about how owners are likely to enjoy life onboard when the sun is shining.

When it’s not, an extensive interior makeover builds on the previous generation to offer an even higher level of comfort for up to four couples.
Horizon has booked a Sanctuary Cove berth for the world premiere of the open flybridge version of its FD75 motor yacht.
The “fast displacement” Horizon FD85 features a raised pilothouse, walkaround decks, a large open bridge, and three staterooms including a forward master that runs right across the full beam.

Horizon will also have its fresh-look FD80 Skyline, featuring the fully enclosed bridge deck, on show, and an FD90 Skyline - the latter being the most popular model in the FD series.
Last year, Horizon surprised everyone with one of the fastest sales in the event’s history after it sold a Horizon RP100 superyacht within hours of the Sanctuary Cove gates opening.
The star of Whitehaven’s Sanctuary Cove appearance will be the Whitehaven 6800SY, a deviation of the Whitehaven 7000SY.
How this differs from the 7000SY is that Chance, as the boat is known, is highly customised to the owner’s specific requirements. The boat is also the first to feature Whitehaven’s new redesigned foredeck that includes sunbeds as well as a lounge.

The design of the Whitehaven 6800SY has impressed its builders so much that Whitehaven will roll out a new 6100SY that takes its inspiration from the bigger boat – we should expect more about that at Sanctuary Cove.
Brazil-based luxury boat maker Schaefer Yachts plans on making a splash at its first-ever foray into the Australian market with the Schaefer 510, the newest boat in its line-up.
Schaefer is fairly new on the boat-making scene but has already made a name for itself in the North American market. The Schaefer 510 flybridge cruiser was introduced to the showroom late last year, and has already posted strong sales overseas.

The Schaefer 510 has a large bridge deck extending aft as far as the transom, creating a huge open flybridge space that Schaefer believes will appeal to Australian buyers.
Downstairs, emphasis is on the large cockpit that connects to an equally broad lowering swim deck.
The Schaefer 510 is available in three different layouts, with enough accommodation onboard to sleep up to five people.
Schaefer will also have a couple of smaller models on show at Sanctuary Cove.
Semi-displacement raised pilothouse cruiser specialist Fleming Yachts will have a single boat on display that perfectly plugs the gap in its line-up – the Fleming 58.

Launched in the same year as the Sydney-based motor yacht maker’s 25th anniversary, the Fleming 58 features old-world charm with modern touches.
