Riviera has officially launched the Riviera 78 Motor Yacht, the largest and most expensive bluewater cruiser that the Gold Coast-based shipyard has ever built.
Measuring a handspan short of 25 metres length overall, the new 78 Motor Yacht sets a new high-water mark for the 42-year-old brand, joining more than 5800 other Riviera-badged models worldwide.

The launch coincided with a ceremony attended by 11 of the boat’s new owners that will one day call the Riviera 78 Motor Yacht their home away from home.
The Riviera 78 Motor Yacht’s design is a collaboration between Riviera’s in-house design team, engineers and craftspeople, and superyacht designer Luca Vallebona.
Vallebonna said the design team decided to do something that was contemporary, but not the showroom styling seen in some designs.
“What I love is the way we are mixing our different cultures, the Australian one and the European one and we have found a good balance that will make everyone happy,” Vallebonna said.
"Going forward from the aft saloon deck to the interior of the 78, I think is an incredible space,” he said.
"We worked hard as a team to find the right balance in the interior design. I think we achieved a very good outcome. We have introduced new concepts and they look superb."
The Riviera 78 Motor Yacht – the logos it wears on the cabin sides and its transom now have outstretched wings that suggest its owners will use this boat to extend their horizons – will come with the option of either an enclosed flybridge, or as an open bridge deck.
The Riviera 78 Motor Yacht is the first of the line to come with stabiliser fins as standard, which will help to smooth the ride while running, level the motor yacht while turning, and provide stability at rest.
