2022 Princess S72 revealed

The new Princess S72 is revealed via a single image released by the British luxury motor yacht marque

British luxury motor yacht marque Princess Yachts has expanded its S-Class range with an all-new Princess S72 set to join the showroom.

Princess has revealed a single computer-generated image of the new sedan model, featuring a design that taps into Princess DNA but takes it a step forward.

Of note, the new model appears to adopt a much more raked windscreen to give the side profile a more swept, sporty look, and sweeping full-length hull windows that connect to a striking geodesic design feature aft.

The new Princess 72 is a collaboration between Princess’s in-house design team, naval architects Oleinski and the same Italian design house that penned the Daewoo-sourced Holden Viva sedan and wagon, Pininfarina. But this is no cheap makeover.

Welcoming owners onboard

According to Princess, as they step aboard via a teak-inlaid hydraulic swim deck, owners will be greeted by an illuminated Princess crown logo fitted to the transom.

Upstairs is a large aft sunpad facing a cockpit featuring what Princess says is a “unique sociable U-shaped seating area” with modular seating, a folding teak table and a servery unit.

“The cockpit bar connects to the galley unit to create an almost seamless transition from outside to in, with a glass window partition which folds up from the unit below to provide servery access when entertaining.,” it says.

“Triple-sliding saloon doors create a harmonious connection from exterior to interior, which is accentuated with an elegant lighting design feature which flows from the outside headlining through to the main saloon.”

Social saloon

Princess says the Princess S72’s saloon is made for sociable living, featuring a large L-shaped dining area opposite the galley leading to a “cavernous” main deck saloon fitted with a U-shaped sofa, designer coffee table, and a large sideboard that also hides a retracting 55-inch television.

There is also a fold-out table with companion seating.

The helm comprises two seats with the skipper’s chair alongside a pantograph access door that opens to the side decks, while overhead is a large sunroof.

A Boning vessel monitoring system ties all the Princess S72’s electronics together, while a premium Nain audio system feeds sound to the saloon, master stateroom and sportbridge.

The Princess S72 will include four staterooms for up to eight guests, as well as a single twin cabin that can also double as crew quarters.

The full-beam amidships master stateroom has its own staircase from the main deck to a private lobby.

Outdoor living

There’s also plenty going on in terms of the Princess S72’s outdoor living space.

“On the upper deck, the S72’s sportbridge invites outdoor living with a large U-shaped dining area, wet bar with barbecue and L-shaped seating forward that transforms to a sunbed,” Princess says.

“Forward on the main deck, the spacious foredeck boasts innovative sunbeds with integrated adjustable headrests, which can be converted to create additional aft-facing seats, whilst a locker between the sunbeds can be specified as an additional cool box.”

Meanwhile, up to a 3.9-metre tender can store inside the garage built into the Princess S72’s stern that comes fitted with an integrated launching system.

The Princess S72 even has bespoke storage for two Seabob water scooters.

A separate transom door gives direct access to the twin-berth crew cabin from the electro-hydraulic bathing platform.

Powering the Princess S72 will be a pair of MAN V12 engines producing either 1650hp each, or 1800hp. The top speed with the optional engine choice will be around 36 knots.

No details were provided on when we’re likely to see the first production model.
