Gold Coast-based Maritimo has dropped details of the Maritimo M60, an all-new flybridge cruiser that harkens directly to the luxury motor yacht maker’s origins.
Because of the model name’s importance to the brand – it’s the boat that launched Maritimo to become the company it is today – this new long-range motor cruiser’s development has been “of the highest focus and detail across all divisions of Maritimo”.
“At the beginning of this project, it was made clear by Maritimo founder, Bill Barry-Cotter, that the M60 had to be a motor yacht that was truly special, as the 60’ flybridge designation was something that he held close to his heart,” Maritimo designer Tom Barry-Cotter said.
“As soon as you step aboard the new M60 you will appreciate the Maritimo difference and you will be immediately captivated by its space – easily accommodating your family in style, safety and comfort.
“A fully enclosed climate-controlled flybridge sky lounge with internal staircase access provides the essential comfort needed for long-range cruising and passage-making.”
The new Maritimo M60’s most striking feature is the “adventure deck”, a vast, open space of the aft cockpit that integrates seamlessly with the swim platform to create a large open space ideal for storing a tender, but also for anyone who enjoys diving or fishing.
The vast open space gives the Maritimo M60 a distinct aft bias to the design’s overall proportions.
“The feedback from our global network of owners had showed us that our customers really enjoy the protection and connection with the environment from the cockpit and platform zones, and once anchored up, that is where we are spending most of our time at anchor,” Barry-Cotter said.
“It is for that reason that Maritimo has heavily emphasized the amount of space within these areas, by creating bias to the amount of rear deck space when addressing the overall proportions of the exterior design.
“The result is a stunningly balanced exterior profile, with an immensity of cockpit deck, and adventure deck space with the ability to cater to a vast range of entertaining, relaxation, or adventuring activities.”
Upstairs, the Maritimo M60 features an enclosed flybridge accessed via an internal staircase built flush against the saloon. The “skylounge” is split into two distinct living areas – a cruising lounge space up front and a TV lounge aft (which can also convert into an extra berth).
The flybridge’s balcony, accessed via bifold doors, is a huge 11.0-square-metre space and includes a rear awning with the option to install clears to fully enclose the space to make it an airconditioned extension of the skylounge.
Downstairs, the saloon space opens to an upper cockpit – it can also fully enclose via drop-down clears – that overlooks the adventure deck below complete with an aft entertainment module featuring a barbecue, sink, and a top-loading fridge.
Deep bulwarks framed in high rails run forward.
The saloon features an aft galley that splits the divide between the internal and external space. The saloon’s interior is filled with light, featuring large windows that include optional two-stage vista sliding windows to allow air to flow across the space.
In terms of accommodations, the Maritimo M60 features three staterooms with two ensuites, with the master stateroom using the Maritimo M60’s 5.2-metre beam and panoramic cabin windows to its best advantage.
The forward VIP berth features an offset queen-size bed with an adjoining ensuite, with a twin-single stateroom featuring berths that can slide together to from a double bed.
Of note, the Maritimo M60 features the flybridge wings that have helped the Maritimo M55 launched this year to greatly increase the amount of saloon and upper-level space on offer.
The new model is built on top of Maritimo’s proven bluewater hulls measuring 18.5 metres overall length, and featuring a variable deadrise with a deep keel, sharp bow entry and flattened progression aft to help with planing. It is designed to provide a mix of cruising efficiency and comfort, and stability.
Powering it will be a choice of either standard 800hp Volvo Penta D13 inboard engines turning shallow-angle 8.0-degree straight shafts, with more powerful 1000hp D13s available.
Maritimo’s relationship with Scania also builds, with the Maritimo M60 also listing a pair of 1150hp Scania Di16 engines as an option.
The shallow-angle shafts, combined with five-blade Nibral propellers, provide a 1.35-metre draft, meaning that despite its size, the Maritimo M60 sneak into access shallow-water anchorages.
Similar to the Maritimo M55 officially launched at the 2021 Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show, the Maritimo M60 uses three fuel tanks spread low and wide to provide an extremely low centre of gravity, with a combined 4550-litre capacity.
Like the M55, the Maritimo M60 can refuel from one side, meaning you don’t have to spin the boat to top up all the tanks.
The new Maritimo M60 – the fifth new model launched by the brand this year – is due for its global launch at next year’s 2022 Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show.
