Dehler has added a new flagship model to its “Speed and Quality” sailboat range, revealing the boundary-pushing Dehler 46 SQ concept ahead of its September real-world debut.
The Dehler 46 SQ displaces the Dehler 38 SQ launched two years ago and is one of the Hanse-owned sub-brand’s more popular models.
According to Dehler, the new 46 SQ includes all-new exterior styling and interior lighting, an intelligent layout and high-performance upgrades to the rig and cockpit.

Of note, the Dehler 46 SQ’s cockpit is now more streamlined than ever before – it includes the option of Y-spoked wheels and electric-assist racing winches – with a redesigned, modern-look deck that includes coachroof sun pads.
The bowsprit and bobstay are integrated into the anchor housing, which features a forward tack point for either a gennaker or Code 0 to fly.
The jib now uses a Facnor FlatDeck furling system that is fitted with webbing to help prevent reefing line overriding and uneven furling, as well as providing more torque while furling.
Dehler said the Facnor drum is also mounted “considerably lower” than furling systems used in the past, allowing the Dehler 46 SQ to allow for “longer luff and larger sail areas”.
But the Dehler 46 SQ is also better at handling conditions at sea that are less than optimal.
“Another new feature is the flying staysail, which allows the headsail to be reduced safely and without shifting the centre of effort,” Dehler said.
“In combination with the second reef in the mainsail, even storms can be mastered.”
Dehler said that combined with its competition keel and rudder, as well as a taller mast and Quantum high-performance sails, “one can coax even more potential from the Dehler 46 SQ”.
Natural interior lighting has improved using larger hull windows and two new windows added to the coachroof.
“New work surface colours and the updated lounge area complete a much brighter saloon, which can be configured in four different layouts in the saloon and cabins,” Dehler said.
The Dehler 46 SQ will have its official debut at the 2022 Cannes Yachting Festival in September.
Dehler’s range of high-end sailboats is distributed in Australia via Windcraft Yachts.
