US-based sports yacht maker Cruisers Yachts has launched the Cruisers Yachts 50 GLS OB, the largest model in the GLS-badged luxury bowrider range to date.
The new model was unveiled overnight at the 2022 Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show. It’s also the first Cruisers yachts model to be powered by Mercury’s 600hp V12 Verado outboard engine – in this instance, three of them producing a combined 1800hp.
The new model is equipped with Simrad electronics integrated with Mercury’s Joystick Piloting for Outboards system, as well as port and starboard “beach doors”, electronically lowering coamings – with a boarding ladder – that greatly increase the amount of space in the rear cockpit that is deliberately left as open as possible.

Relaxation spaces include a bow lounge, L-shaped seating amidships, two rear-facing lounges, and bench seating. Facing the helm is a captain’s chair with electronic adjustment, and a dual-width co-pilot seat alongside.
The other highlight of this boat, though, is the bow lounge that features a table with electronic height adjustment, a JL Audio system, an icebox and even a rubbish bin. An optional shadecloth can cover the area.
Below decks, the Cruisers Yachts 50 GLS OB has a master stateroom with queen-size bed forward in the bow, which features a hanging locker, personal reading lights, a porthole and opening skylight, and the option of a TV. The space is closed off using a pair of French doors.
Aft of this space is a galley with a fridge, microwave oven and the option of a second TV. The dinette space behind it can convert into a second sleeping space using an infill cushion.
Below decks also houses the head with sink, toilet and a separate shower.
The boat can also come with an optional Seakeeper 6 gyroscope.
Cruisers Yachts are distributed in Australia through Melbourne-based Aussie Boat Sales. A spokesman said several potential Australian customers had already seen the new boat.
