2022 Boston Whaler 360 Outrage revealed

Boston Whaler’s Outrage line of luxury sports fishers adapts to twin Mercury V12 Verado performance

Boston Whaler has revealed its all-new Boston Whaler 360 Outrage luxury sports fisher ahead of an official debut at this week’s 2022 Miami International Boat Show.

The new model joining the US saltwater specialist’s line-up adapts to 1200hp of Mercury V12 Verado performance, with the Outrage centre console line adopting the performance hero for the first time.

The result is a boat that will comfortably cruise at 31 knots for just shy of 300 nautical miles under Boston Whaler’s own testing and hit a top speed of 54.5 knots at 6800rpm.

Other engine choices for the Boston Whaler 360 Outrage include triple 300hp Mercury Verado outboard engines, triple 450hp Mercury Racing powerplants, or the twin 600hp V12s.

The 11.12-metre long, 3.43-metre beam Boston Whaler 360 Outrage also introduces a new-look helm station featuring a switch to dual 16-inch Simrad NSO evo3S multifunction screens as standard, with space for up to dual 19-inch displays, along with a joystick that introduces Mercury’s Joystick Piloting and DockSense low-speed assistance systems.

Sweeping changes

Compared with the more traditional Outrage line, the new Boston Whaler 360 Outrage features a redesigned bow lounge that increases the amount of storage and walking space, as well as adapting better to anyone who wants to fish off the bow.

Another innovation is a two-seater couch that backs onto the centre console leaning post, providing a pair of throne-like aft-facing seats. The seatbacks fold down to provide a bait preparation bench.

Part of the change forward includes improved access to the anchor well and windlass.

For those who want to turn a fishing trip into an overnight adventure, Boston Whaler says the 360 Outrage’s cabin is now more organised, with a better-designated sleeping arrangement in the forward vee berth that includes a head and cold water shower – tick that convenience pack option for hot water.

A stand-out feature, though, is that optional upper helm, complete with joystick piloting. Access to the tower is via a hatch in the rear of the hardtop, with a central ladder providing a much more user-friendly way to access the upper station.

Other features include a 200-litre live well on the centreline of the transom, a dive door with a removable stainless steel access ladder, a premium JL Audio system, and the option of a trio of lithium-ion batteries to replace an onboard genset.

As for pricing? No word as yet, although with the Mercury V12 Verados alone costing north of $100,000 to hang off the transom this boat is not going to come cheap.

Boston Whaler boats are sold in Australia via Queensland Marine Centre.
