2021 Sea-Doo RXP-X 300 revealed

The world's fastest-accelerating jet ski, the Sea-Doo RXP-X 300, will land in Australia later this year with an eyebrow-raising price tag

Sea-Doo has given its race-winning RXP-X300 performance model its biggest overhaul in nine years, delivering what it claims will be the world’s fastest-accelerating personal watercraft.

Sea-Doo says the 2021 Sea-Doo RXP-X 300 will hit 100kmh in less than three seconds; its previous fastest model, the RXT-X 300 is rated at 3.6 seconds.

The 2021 Sea-Doo RXP-X 300 was unveiled in the US overnight but the first shipments are already on their way to Australia, due in local showrooms in November priced from $24,799 not including trailer and registration (which typically adds $1500 to $2000).

This represents a price increase of $1600 compared to the 2020 model which cost from $23,199 not including trailer and registration

As before, the 2021 Sea-Doo RXP-X 300 will be powered by a supercharged 1630cc three-cylinder Rotax engine with a claimed output of 300 horsepower.

However, the new model weighs 30kg less than before – for a claimed dry weight of 354kg – thanks to a new hull and deck dubbed T3-R.

Flagship hull

The deep-vee hull and new deck (elements of which are shared with the GTR series) are made from acrylic-coated fibreglass that Sea-Doo calls "CM-TEC".

It is the same material used on the flagship ST3 family of Sea-Doo watercraft including the Fish Pro, RXT-X 300, and GTX Limited.

Other, more affordable models in the Sea-Doo range are made from a plastic composite known as Polytec.

Sea-Doo says the 2021 RXP-X 300 has the most responsive hull on a watercraft to date, with an ideal blend of low-speed manoeuvrability and high-speed stability in chop.

It has ‘X-sponsons’ for tighter turns – and smooth chines as well as gills halfway along the edge of the hull for better performance in chop.

It is this type of performance that will likely serve the new craft well in watercraft racing and find favour among performance enthusiasts.

The 2021 Sea-Doo RXP-X 300 is available in a choice of two colour combinations: a purple and yellow, and a yellow-orange design.

Adjustable seat

The new model is a two-seater and includes an industry-first adjustable rear cushion that pivots up for better rider grip. Its arch-rival, the Yamaha GO1800R SVHO, is a three-seater.

A 70-litre fuel tank sourced from the Fish Pro and RXT-X 300 replaces the 60-litre fuel bladder in the outgoing RXP-X 300.

The top deck has more storage than before (with an extra 40 litres in the nose to make 143 litres of space, plus a waterproof phone compartment near the handlebars). However, the steering retains a telescopic handlebar adjustment rather than tilt adjustment.

An optional 100-watt Bluetooth speaker system is available for the first time.

A new rear deck enables Sea-Doo’s catalogue of "Linq" accessories such as a cooler box, soft storage bag, or 15-litre fuel bladder to be securely attached.

The 2021 Sea-Doo RXP-X 300 now comes with the widescreen dash display from the Sea-Doo RXT-X 300. Other 2021 Sea-Doo flagship models come with a new high-resolution 7.8-inch digital dash display that brings smartphone connectivity to the watercraft’s touchscreen.

The first shipments of the 2021 Sea-Doo RXP-X 300 range is on the water and on its way to Australian showrooms. Deliveries should start in about November, pending any unforeseen delays.
