2021 Princess X80 ‘superfly’ revealed

Princess Yachts revealed the Princess X80, the second super flybridge model in its line-up

Princess Yachts has added another member to its X-Class “superfly” motor yacht range, revealing the Princess X80 super flybridge.

Looking like a more condensed version of the Pininfarina-designed Princess X95 super flybridge model unveiled last year, the new Princess X90 will launch next year and offer the same distinct separation between outdoor and indoor living spaces as its larger sibling.

“The Princess X80 follows the X95 concept defined by large, adaptable spaces offering flexible accommodation,” Princess said in a statement announcing the new model.

“Yet again, Princess is boldly re-writing the rules of yacht design and architecture by incorporating the concept of a ‘super flybridge’ featuring extensive outdoor space, offering the owner and guests a real alfresco living opportunity.

“The X80 has been painstakingly designed to offer the most versatile and accommodating experience while keeping design and style at the forefront.”

Fast mover

Underneath, the Princess X80 sits on a fast, efficient hull.

“Over recent years there has been a quiet revolution in the methods used to design a Princess hull,” Princess said.

“Years of experience building fast and seaworthy hulls are now complemented by cutting-edge simulation techniques.

“For the X80, this approach has led to efficiencies across the speed range whilst ensuring the highest levels of seakeeping and predictable handling. Fitted with twin MAN V12 1900s the X80 will reach speeds up to 30 knots.”

Yep, that’s pretty quick.

Familiar lines

The Princess X80’s exterior follows similar lines as the profile of the X95, with the same increased height of the bulwarks, topsides and enclosed wheelhouse.

“Her ‘S’ shaped canopy flows into the flybridge deck to balance the visual weight and disguise the volume of the expansive sky lounge,” Princess said.

“The X80 brings the outside in through the maximisation of glazing which flows along the entire length of the main deck encasing the saloon, galley and forward dining area.

The use of light and innovative design continues below decks where eight guests are accommodated across four cabins, a full beam master stateroom located amidships, a forward guest stateroom, a double guest to starboard and a twin cabin to port.

“Located aft of the main accommodation is the crew quarters which can accommodate three crew with the standard layout.”
