2021 Neo R6 Open revealed

The show doesn’t officially kick off until October 1, but the Italian luxury day yacht specialist decided it had had enough of waiting.

“Despite the difficult times we are living through, we remain confident and continue to invest in production; so much so that we have already moved into the construction phase for the Velar 78, of which a scale model will be shown at the stand,” Neo said.

The reference to the Velar 78 is the largest motor yacht that Neo will have produced once it is launched, possibly late this year.

But back to the Neo R6 Open. Neo has already produced the R6 “TTop, so for this version of the 18-metre dayboat, designer Valerio Rivellini has gone to town.

“Compared with the classic version, the new R6 Open features a steel roll-bar in place of the T-top, consisting of a suspended wing that connects the two uprights,” Neo said.

“The resulting design has sporty, flowing lines that perfectly convey a feeling of lightness.

“And this focus on lightness is also clear to see in the details, like the decision not to place the antennas on the wing itself, but in a raised position above it, so that they become an integral part of the structural design.”

Just because it’s an open boat, it’s not sunburn city. The Neo R6 Open features a retractable bimini for the helm and the forward cockpit where the dining area is situated.

Down the rear, the Evo R6 Open features the R6 T-top’s beach lounge, including the “XTension” bulwarks system that slides out to increase the size of the aft cockpit by 40 per cent.

There’s also that high-diving platform that folds out of the sugarscoop transom.

Neo said the R6 Open’s central sunpad was “spacious enough to house a 2.85-meter tender beneath it”.

“The layout of Evo R6 Open is an invitation to socialise and relax in an immersive experience, at one with the natural environment,” Neo said.

“Despite being a pure open, the below deck area offers every comfort and plenty of headroom, with a layout that features a dinette, the owner’s cabin, two doubles for guests in the stern, and two bathrooms.

Engine options for the Neo R6 Open include twin Volvo Penta IPS 800s or 950s, with the top-spec powerplants providing enough poke to push the boat to a top speed of 35 knots.

Slow down a bit, and the Neo R6 Open will provide owners with a range of 280 miles.

Neo did not give an indication of price.
