Naiad Boats already boasts it builds the SUV of the seas. Now it wants to lay claim to the long-haul adventure cruiser title with the reveal of this, the Naiad Expedition fifteen.
New Zealand and Australia-based rigid hull inflatable boat specialist Naiad is a brand already renowned worldwide for its range of hardcore military and offshore rescue boats. It’s now taken that formula to build a boat blending luxury appointments, 1800hp of Mercury V12 performance, and unequalled seakeeping ability.
“To experience Expedition fifteen is to know what confidence in your watercraft really feels like, providing the ocean-loving pioneer with both peace of mind and superior comfort when exploring the extraordinary, Naiad said.
The Naiad Expedition fifteen is built around a foam-filled aluminium hull. Uniquely, though, this boat is the only one in Naiad’s line-up that has a backward-sloping windscreen fronting the enclosed pilothouse.
Just getting on or off the Naiad Expedition fifteen is an adventure, with a hinged staircase flipping out of the bow to provide easy beach access. Down the rear are hidden dive and swim ladders hingeing off the swim platform.
A rear lounge space includes a bar, while the fully airconditioned interior features what Naiad says is “premium fit out and appliances” including custom upholstery.
The 1800hp can all be controlled via Mercury’s joystick control system, while both the pilot and co-pilot sit on suspension seating that helps to smooth out the roughest of seas.
No other details were revealed.
Pricing? Well, that’s not really on the cards yet, but with the big outboard engines costing around $60,000 each, it’s sure to be expensive.
