Makocraft has announced that a new model is about to join its growing range of X-Series fibreglass boats, with the name giving a strong clue to the depth of its ability – the Makocraft 530 X Offshore.
Few clues have dropped ahead of the boat’s official reveal at this month’s 2021 Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show, but a teaser released by Makocraft alludes to what looks a lot like an extremely capable bluewater boat.
We’ll have to wait and see if the fully composite boat is made with the traditional fibreglassing method used to build the 4.0-metre X-Max dinghy, or the new resin-infusion method that Makocraft uses to build the significantly thinner and lighter 4.0-metre X-Lite car topper.
According to Makocraft, the 530 X Offshore draws its lines from a “classic USA-designed Carolina flared bow offshore hull”. Reading between the lines, this means the new boat is likely to feature a deep vee forward – anywhere around 21 degrees – flattening out as it runs aft.
The Carolina bow is also very good at deflecting spray away from the boat, making it a dry runner in most conditions.
The hull also will ride on a fully reversed chine, which will help with getting the Makocraft 530 X Offshore up onto the plane, grip the water while cornering and deflect even more spray.
Of note, Makocraft has revealed the 530 X Offshore will have a foam-filled hull, meaning it could be one of a few production boats built in Australia to meet level flotation standards common on boats imported from North America.
The 2021 Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show runs from May 20 to 23.
