2021 Lightwave 45 cruising catamaran teased

What's believed to be a new version of the Lightwave 45 features radical changes

Lightwave Yachts has teased a new cruising catamaran that it says will be revealed in full on September 30.

The new model was teased in an image showing a “45” on one of the hulls, hinting that it could be a replacement for its current Lightwave 45 model.

However, this generation of the 45 seems to be swapping to reversed wave-piercing bows, indicating the new version of the 13.7-metre performance cruiser will have even more space for its waterline than before.

The new design appears to maintain its large saloon and the high-mounted central helm.

Lightwave recently moved to a new factory close to its former Gold Coast-based facilities as it ramps up for a new-model onslaught, including the Lightwave 50 motor catamaran and 52 sailing catamaran.

However, an all-new version of the 45 – if that is what will be announced – will come as something of an unexpected surprise.

The latest version of the Lightwave 45, the Maestro, was released in 2014 and featured a full-beam master stateroom – and no compromises to the brand’s performance sailing legacy.
