Melbourne-based boat builder Haines Hunter has a new hero atop its Enclosed series of boats with the official launch today of the Haines Hunter 760 Enclosed.
The new model was put on display at a special unveiling at eastern Melbourne-based dealership Davey Marine, which worked with Haines Hunter to develop it. It sits at the top of a range of boats including the 625, 675, and 725 Enclosed.
The new trailerable gamefishing flagship, an evolution of the 760R but offering enclosed protection, is the result of 12 months of collaboration between Davey Marine, its customers, and Haines Hunter.
Davey Marine dealer principal Adam Davey said customer feedback showed they wanted a larger enclosed model.
“Our confidence in the concept meant we as a dealership committed to ordering the first six hulls and already we have pre-orders on a portion of those,” Davey said.
The new Haines Hunter 760 Enclosed will differ from the 760R in that owners will be able to ask for ther boat to be built with a floor that sits 150mm lower, giving more headroom.
The lower floor takes about 60 litres out of the 600-litre rear kill tank, but the 500-litre fuel capacity remains the same for both versions.
The hardtop, enclosed on three sides, includes an air hatch and plenty of room to mount hardware including aerials, outriggers or rocket launchers.
The boat shown at tonight’s launch, hull No.1 in the raised floor configuration, includes twin 250hp 4.2-litre V6 Yamaha four-stroke outboard engines – these ones are in the optional $1500-per-side Pearl White finish – featuring fly-by-wire electric steering connected to Yamaha’s Helm Master joystick-based boat control system that also includes an autopilot.
The electronics fit-up includes two 12-inch Garmin GPSMAP 8412 chartplotter and fishfinder touchscreens, a Garmin GSD 26 sounder module, a pair of Garmin 1kW through-hull transducers, and a Garmin GMR 24 xHD radar bolted on top.
Davey Marine’s Haines Hunter 760 Enclosed also includes a four-speaker Hertz HMR20 marine digital receiver, a Viper electric winch, and integrated Lenco trim tabs.
Dry and tackle storage spaces abound, while a pair of floor hatches open up to reveal generous underfloor storage spaces including a large kill tank.
The Haines Hunter 760 Enclosed also features a dive door and SeaDek flooring. The cuddy cabin is big enough for three people to get quite cozy, while an optional 60-litre freshwater tank is available.
The Haines Hunter 760 Enclosed has not yet been weighed as a complete boat, motor and trailer package, but the bare hull weighs around 1750kg dry. Loaded up with fuel and equipment, it should sit at just under 4.0 tonnes on the trailer.
Davey Marine has priced hull No.1, sitting on a Mackay dual-axle alloy trailer, from $330,000. A base Haines Hunter 760 Enclosed package powered with twin 225hp Yamaha outboard engines – minus Yamaha’s Helm Master system and using hydraulic steering – and without electronics is expected to be priced from $256,000.
The new Haines Hunter 760 Enclosed will be on show at Davey Marine along with a number of other Haines Hunter models including the 760R, 725 Enclosed, 675 Enclosed and 650R as part of a four-day boat show running from July 15-18.
