US fibreglass boat maker Formula has revealed a beast of a new model – the 16-metre quint-outboard engined Formula 500 Super Sport Crossover.
Due on sale in the US in February, the new Formula flagship is classed as a bowrider but features a fully enclosed saloon and helm with 2.1 metres of headroom running the full 4.42-metre beam.
Also taking advantage of that beam are five Mercury Verado outboard engines – options for their combined output have not yet been disclosed, although the 430 Super Sport Crossover can wear up to four Mercury Racing 450Rs – arranged along a pod that transforms into a large, open swim platform.

It even comes with its own bar, fronted with a pair of barstools. Other Super Sport Crossover models also get their own drone as an option.
The Formula 500 Super Sport Crossover even comes equipped with 26 drink holders.
Formula believes buyers will be attracted to the new model for its spaciousness. “The 500 SSC offers the Formula Crossover heritage of a wide-open, single-level bowrider inviting open station-to-station wandering – no more clambering around an obtrusive console or over a space-stealing catwalk,” it said.
The Formula 500 Super Sport Crossover’s coupe styling features the spacious bow lounge up front, with access to the air-conditioned saloon via the starboard side.

A central sliding door reveals a companionway to the lower air-conditioned accommodation, which includes an aft queen-size bed and lounge, a smaller galley space, enclosed head and shower, and a forward U-shaped lounge.
Back topside, the boat features a port-side helm with room for up to three people and a powered footrest, an L-shaped dinette, and a galley with an aft-facing bench that doubles as a bar. The space can shut off from the cockpit via an electronically sliding glass bulkhead.
An expansive sunroof covers the entire area.
The cockpit space is lined in lounges with tables, with a single step down to the expansive 7.0-square-metre swim deck with retractable ladders to either side. An electric barbecue faces the swim deck, as does a sun lounge, and the entire area jumps to the sound of an audio system featuring a 200-watt subwoofer.

A leaning post around the engine pod is equipped with multiple drink holders.
Formula is yet to reveal pricing for the Formula 500 Super Sport Crossover, but it is expected to nudge past $US2 million ($A2.7 million) once a few choice options – including those Mercury Racing outboard engines – are ticked.
