The all-new Beneteau Gran Turismo 45, revealed overnight, will fill an important gap in the French power and sailboat maker’s line of versatile sports cruisers.
Beneteau says the new model, which will slip in below the flagship Beneteau Gran Turismo 50 sedan and 50 Flybridge, sets new standards in its class for functionality and onboard hospitality.
“With its large windows, vast sundeck and U-shaped cockpit seating, the GT 45 fosters conviviality and the enjoyment of a great indoor-outdoor experience,” Beneteau said.
“Designed with versatility in mind, the Gran Turismo 45 offers unrivalled adaptability to changing conditions, allowing the crew to elevate onboard liveability to another level.”
Beneteau has designed the Gran Turismo 45 so that it has strong “luxury sports” automotive cues, such as the metallic grey “fashion plates” fitted to the hard-top’s uprights, and engine intakes.
Beneteau said the new 45 was built with a desire to “offer the same sailing qualities” as the Beneteau Gran Turismo 46 it replaces, but with enough changes flowing through to ensure greater comfort and practicality.
“The Beneteau Gran Turismo 45 makes no secret of its stellar leisure facilities,” it said. “With its vast hydraulically controlled bathing platform and the comfortable sun pad where two people can relax in style and take in the panoramic view, the GT 45 provides passengers with an exceptional indoor-outdoor environment.
“This is further enhanced by the sunroof in the new electric hard-top, a standard feature with optional glass panel, that floods the interior with light.
“The foredeck houses a second, perfectly integrated sun pad with comfortable deck-level cushions. Several optional features include flip-up headrests, canopy/bimini and courtesy lights.”
The new Beneteau Gran Turismo 45 uses much larger windows in the saloon space and can come with an optional rear bulkhead to fully enclose the space and protect it from the weather.
The space includes a fridge and even a dishwasher, with the option of converting the lounge into more overnight accommodations.
The aft transom lounge space also lifts up to reveal a tender garage with the option of an electric winch to haul the tender aboard.
A U-shaped lounge frames the Gran Turismo 45’s cockpit and faces a wet bar with a fridge, sink and icemaker. A TV that drops down into the bar area faces the lounge.
Below decks is a large living space including a spacious galley and dinette that can swap out as a third cabin with two single bunks.
Accommodations include an aft full-beam owner’s cabin equipped with its own head and separate shower space.
A forward vee berth includes “scissor” beds that can swing together to create a space for a couple, with access to the day head complete with its own shower.
The Beneteau Gran Turismo 45 sits on the French brand’s Air Step hull featuring a series of chevrons that let air in under the hull at speed, making it more slippery through the water.
Beneteau has fitted the GT 45 with joystick control for the twin 380hp Volvo Penta D6-380 sterndrive or twin 440hp Volvo Penta D6-IPS 600 pod drives.
Beneteau said the Gran Turismo 45 would be available from September 2021.
