Visitors to November’s Sanctuary Cove Boating Festival will have an exclusive first look at the largest Whitehaven Yachts project to date – the Whitehaven 8000.
Whitehaven announced this week that the Whitehaven 8000 – its largest-ever build – had boarded a ship bound for Brisbane, where the sports yacht will be commissioned in time for the boating showcase.
Named Panache, it will be delivered to its Australian owners before making an appearance at what is shaping up to be the only international boat show held in Australia in 2020.
The Whitehaven 8000 is a 24-metre, or 80 feet in the old measure, sports yacht based on the Whitehaven 7500. It features an extended hull that yields its owners more internal volume, as well as a larger space for storing a tender.
Panache’s owners requested more tender storage space so they could carry an aluminium tender, necessary given the remote Northern Territory waters that the boat will cruise extensively.
This will be the third Whitehaven boat built for its new owners. However, unlike the previous builds where the owners were deeply involved, even travelling to Whitehaven’s Taiwanese shipyards to inspect and tweak the vessel as it was built, this time around most of the build was monitored remotely.
Panache's owners relied on a single trip before Australia’s borders closed, and then photos and regular chats with Whitehaven’s Australian team.
The Sanctuary Cove Boating Festival, a prelude to the 2021 Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show, will run from November 13-15.
Entry is free, but visitors will need to pre-register before attending under strict COVIDSafe guidelines.
