Stabicraft has revealed the Stabicraft 2250 Ultracab WT, a new version of one of its most ocean-capable boats but optimised for people who want to tour the coastline.
The new model features an open bow accessed via a standing height doorway with a sliding roof panel. The easier bow access makes the Stabicraft 2250 Ultracab WT much better at beach landings, with the sand accessed via a swing-down ladder located on the starboard side of the bow.
According to Stabicraft, the new design is the result of feedback from its North American customers.
“They wanted an easier way of embarking and disembarking in the islands and along the rugged coastline, plus they wanted access to the bow of the boat for ease of fishing and storage options,” Stabicraft new product development manager Daniel Upperton said.
“The walk-through feature is ideal for young families or mature couples wanting to make the most of their time on the water, visiting friends and families on remote islands, hunting for crabs or clams, or just taking in wild landscapes.”
The design of the Stabicraft 2250 Ultracab WT manages to keep the Ultracab’s forward-leaning windscreen, creating more space in the cabin and improving airflow. The boat will feature the forward door as either a “WT” or “WT Offshore” package featuring a three-quarter-width transom fish box, portside gate, clears for the rear bulkhead and a forward vee-berth.
The door is in three parts, comprising a fold-down step inside the pilothouse that leads up to the foredeck, and the frameless glass centre pane lifts up similar to a garage door into a roof section, and then slides aft to provide head clearance.
Nothing is lost in terms of the ability to overnight somewhere remote, with the Stabicraft 2250 Ultracab WT offering an optional 1.6-metre vee-berth and 1.9-metre convertible double cabin berth offering accommodation for up to four people, and a lockable cabin section.
Stabicraft said the 2250 Ultracab WT would also feature its “game chaser” transom as standard.
“Originally, this transom was designed for backing up on game fish,” it said. “However, the design has also proved a huge winner for skippers who want to nose their boats into the shoreline.
“The transom effectively dissipates wave action at the stern, thereby minimising the jolting of rough water on boat and passengers.”
The transom is capable of supporting a single 25-inch longshaft outboard engine leg, or twin 20-inch.
