Brisbane-based pleasure catamaran maker Seawind has revealed the Seawind 1370, an all-new twin-hull sailboat that it claims will perform almost as well fully loaded as it would straight off the production line.
The first new Seawind model of the decade is described as an “all-new, from-the-ground-up adventure boat”.
Measuring 13.7 metres – that’s 45 feet in the old scale – Seawind says the new Seawind 1370 has all the “crucial Seawind DNA you know and love, with a huge array of advancements from across the field of catamaran design”.
“And it's got some tricks up its sleeve that you won't have seen anywhere before,” Seawind said.

The Seawind 1370 is the first of a new generation of bluewater cruiser aimed at couples keen to circumnavigate the world. The focus of the design was on comfort and performance – Seawind is keen to emphasise that the boat’s performance is almost as good with a full cruising load on board as it is stripped out to the bare minimum.
Light displacement is just 11,000kg, with a draft of 1.3 metres, meaning it will be able to go places many other boats would just dream of.
The boat will be built using a number of construction techniques including resin-infused fibreglass and carbon-fibre reinforcement to create a “stable and strong” platform.

Seawind says the Seawind 1370 will feature twin helps protected behind a single-level covered cockpit with a tri-fold glass bulkhead – it flips up into the roof to provide maximum access – opening into the saloon.
Inside, the Seawind 1370 features a forward-facing navigator’s station with a panoramic view of the water, so that plotting the catamaran’s course doesn’t need to take place out in the weather.
A trio of layouts will be offered, including a three double-cabin version with an owner’s cabin extending the entire port side. An optional single bed that flips over to become a workbench can be built into the forepeak of the starboard hull.

The emphasis for the new-generation Seawind 1370 has also been on natural airflow throughout the structure.
No pricing has been announced.
