2020 Riviera 64 Sports Motor Yacht takes shape ahead of global reveal

The Gold Coast-based luxury boat maker has released intimate images of a full-scale development mock-up of the new Riviera 64 Sports Motor Yacht as it takes shape inside a shed.

The mock-up allows Riviera to tune the new flybridge model to customers’ needs, with select owners invited to come and look over the boat as it is being built.
“We had over 30 couples visit the factory during the Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show and they were all experienced owners,” Riviera product development manager David Higgins said.
“While we are experts at building boats, they are the ones who have spent thousands of hours on the water,” Higgins said.
"Many of them are on to their third or fourth Riviera so they know what features they liked in previous models, what they would change in their next boat and ultimately what makes a great boat.
“The walk-through was a chance for them to physically feel and experience all of the boat’s proportions and layout and provide their view and input on this latest design.”
The feedback that Riviera has received has already resulted in a number of changes – for example, the height and position of cupboards in the galley were adjusted in the wake of suggestions.
Plugging in
Riviera said 40 craftsmen were working on what will become the plugs that will be used to form each of the 64 Sports Motor Yachts built.
According to Riviera, the 64’s hull has already been moulded, with work now focusing on the plugs for the deck and mezzanine, and then the “finer” components such as hatches.
The 2020 Riviera 64 Sports Motor Yacht will feature three or four staterooms, covered mezzanine dining and aft gourmet galley, an internal staircase, a pantograph door leading to walk-around sidedecks, and a foredeck featuring a spacious entertainment zone that also doubles as tender storage when not in use.
