2020 Riviera 64 Sports Motor Yacht build hits production milestone

The Riviera

Riviera has achieved the next big step in the build of its first Riviera 64 Sports Motor Yacht ahead of what’s shaping up to be a more subdued launch of the latest addition to the high-performance cruising range.

The boat was to have had its world debut at May’s 2020 Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show on the Gold Coast, but the spread of coronavirus and the introduction of strict measures to counteract its spread have forced show organisers to bump the event to later in the year.

However, the developments haven’t stopped Riviera pushing ahead with the next landmark stage of the 64 build – joining the deck with the hull. A video showing the process of joining the two shows the sheer scale of the build – although the flybridge is yet to be fitted.

For the first time, we can now see some of the finer details that will feature on this model, including the deep-vee hull optimised for cutting through waves, the through-bow anchor and the windows that will flood the belowdecks areas with natural light.

Once it is fitted with the flybridge, the Riviera 64 Sports Motor Yacht will feature three living levels; the enclosed upper helm and entertainment area with an aft outdoors deck; lower saloon and galley leading to the aft cockpit; and an accommodation level with three or four staterooms.

Rivera says the new 64 Sports Motor Yacht will be whisper quiet at speed despite its power coming from twin 1300hp MAN V8 1300 diesel-fulled powerplants turning the screws – the default engine choice for the motor cruiser.

The Gold Coast-based luxury yacht maker has pencilled in a June reveal for the 2020 Riviera 64 Sports Motor Yacht.

Riviera celebrates its 40th anniversary this year.
