Australian luxury motor yacht-maker Maritimo has teased a customised game fishing-focused version of its S51 Sedan built by its specialist Maritimo One unit.
The new boat is based on the smallest of the single-level S-badged offshore-capable entertainer range. Modifications include a game tower and a customised cockpit to enhance the boat’s sports fishing abilities.
“The owner of the latest Maritimo One S51 is a serious fishing fanatic and he knew exactly how he wanted to set up his new boat, which is the third Maritimo he has owned,” Maritimo general operations manager Phil Candler said.

“The big benefit of the Maritimo One process is that owners like this can be heavily involved in the design and build process and get to spend a lot of one on one time with the factory representatives to ensure they get exactly what they want.”
The game fishing-friendly version of the 16.2-metre Maritimo S51, one of the Gold Coast-based company’s more popular models, will be followed by another heavily modified boat, but this time the Maritimo One team will be fitting out a Maritimo M59 enclosed flybridge model with a game tower, cockpit modifications and a transom more suited to backing up on a fish.
The Maritimo S51 includes a full-beam master suite and a "generous" guest cabin. It is powered using twin Volvo D11-670 inboard diesel engines that give a 400nm range under optimum running conditions.
Maritimo said common custom inclusions in game fishing-focused setups to date include fully enclosed fish cockpit modifications with transom doors, reversing transoms, game chairs, game towers, live bait tanks, tuna tubes, outriggers and aft flybridge helms, as well as other more individual options.
Maritimo One’s run of fishing specials kicked off with a 72-foot enclosed flybridge model built last year for a New Zealand customer. The delivery of that boat has opened the door to other inquiries from potential owners wanting a luxury motor yacht that takes fishing as seriously as it does pampering those onboard.
Maritimo One, Maritimo’s specialist customisation arm, was launched at 2019 Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show as a separate business within the boat-builder’s growing empire.
The move followed a similar trend in the high-end automotive world where customers want to individualise their rides, rather than have them look the same as other vehicles straight out of the showroom.
One of the projects it has already worked on has included a “Regency Suite” version of its M51 Flybridge that included an extended owners’ master stateroom.
