Maritimo has pulled the covers off every fishing enthusiast’s dream – a Maritimo M59 flybridge motor yacht featuring a game tower and other fishing-specific modifications that make it the ultimate luxury fishing cruiser.
The boat, which has just hit the water, was built by Maritimo One, the recently created custom build specialist arm of the Gold Coats-based luxury motor yacht maker.
The one-off Maritimo M59 was built as a dream boat for Dubbo-based truck dealer Cliff Swane, and includes modifications to the flybridge mouldings to improve vision from the cockpit for game fishing.

One of the key modifications is 1000 litres of extra fuel capacity – moving freshwater tanks to the lazerette and converting the forward freshwater tank has yielded 5500 litres.
The Maritimo M59 also has a reversed transom to help the boat back up onto game fish.
Other modifications include a game tower, a rear helm station on the flybridge, multiple 22-inch Garmin screens at the flybridge helm and elsewhere, an ice chipper and extra freezer capacity, rod storage and tackle room replacing one of the cabins, a modified full-beam master suite layout, and a redesigned galley that includes chilled freshwater and soda, additional fixed storage capacity in the pantry.
The boat includes a number of other additions and changes compared with the base model.
"When I started looking I looked at numerous different brands including those using pod drive propulsion systems," Swane said.
"I just wasn't comfortable with pods, and I also wanted a boat with the ability to cruise as well as fish”.
The standard Maritimo M59 uses twin 800hp Volvo Penta D13 inboard shaft-drive engines, which Maritimo says delivers better cruising speeds and fuel efficiency.
"I wanted something that suited both serious fishing with my mates and family but was also a luxurious and comfortable boat for extended cruising with family and friends,” Swane said.
"Maritimo delivered on all those fronts and they were also the only ones who were readily prepared and capable of handling all the changes and additions I wanted.
"Overall in terms of their willingness to understand what we wanted in a fish boat and then communicate that through the ranks to the factory floor the process was great and ultimately they delivered – and that's no mean feat.”
Unfortunately, Swane has not been able to follow the build of his custom Maritimo M59 in person, with Queensland closing its borders to interstate visitors under strict COVID-19 control measures introduced by the state government.
However, he will soon get the chance at a handover planned for Tweed Heads in the next few weeks.
Swane said the Maritimo One-built Maritimo M59 would next year head around the top end of Australia and the Kimberley region, with plans to head off to the Pacific islands the following year for some “spectacular gamefishing”.
