Finnish motor yacht brand Bella will soon introduce a version of its Flipper 900 DC to the Australian market, adding another option for owners lusting after a distinctive overnighter.
The newest of the flagship twin outboard-engined cruisers, revealed to the world this month and due on sale here in time for summer, was built with Australian input that has resulted in extra onboard refrigeration space, a massive sunbed and improved access to the water.
The addition of the 900 DC – the “DC” stands for “day cruiser” – means the flagship model will be available in Australia in both soft- and hard-top. The overnighting option comes at a time when buyer interest is booming for boats with overnight accommodation in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Flipper’s boats are built on top of what it calls the Speedhull, a hull design that Flipper says optimises high-speed running under a mix of conditions, as well as sporty performance.
The Flipper 900 DC features a step-through transom accessed via a walkaround engine pod. Once inside, the cockpit features a large J-shaped lounge with a removable table to starboard, and either a pantry platform or full pantry to port depending on the buyer’s needs.
Below decks, the Flipper 900 DC features a large aft double bed running across the beam, and another large bed filling the bow to the forepeak.
Standard equipment announced for the European market includes a bow thruster to help with low-speed maneuvering, carpeted interior, curtians and mosquito nets, a dual battery system, a folding aft sunbed, toilet with washbasin, and dash space for up to a 16-inch chartplotter.
Key options include portholes in the toilet and sleeping areas, a 96-litre pressurised water system, 65-litre fridge, shower, teak flooring, trim tabs, and wireless smartphone chargers.
Othe options include air-conditioning, a heavier anchor, a full canopy, holding tank, an electric grill, Fusion audio system, shore power, handheld washdown for the swim deck, and a TV system.
Power options are varied, ranging from a single 350hp or 400hp Mercury, or twin 200hp, 225hp, 250hp or 300hp Mercury outboard engines – and the option of joystick control where available.
Sydney-based Chapman Marine Group and Hope Harbour-based Spirit Marine Queensland will sell the Flipper 900 DC starting from $298,000.
