Italian shipwright Codecasa has released its first look at an aviation-inspired intercontinental cruiser with more than just a passing nod to a jumbo jet.
Called the Codecasa 2020 Jet, the 70-metre military grey motor yacht features a Boeing 747 jumbo jet-inspired bow, a Hawkeye-style carbon-fibre radome tower and a helicopter pad built on top of the stern.
Even the windows running down each side look like those installed on a plane. Each side of the yacht can hold a tender, and give the impression of jet engines.

The inspiration behind the design is where the sea meets the sky. “The result is something that has never been seen before on the sea,” Codecasa said. “The lines are clean and minimal, the exterior and interior spaces are huge.”
The rounded, flight deck-styled bow makes way for a “fuselage”, and then a 20 metre by 10 metre sun deck that looks more like part of a cargo ship fitted out as a high-end luxury living space.
“The latter is provided with all comforts and facilities required to live the sea in total relaxation, such as a recessed swimming pool of 6.0 metres by 2.0 metres, with large sunbathing mattresses and a covered gymnasium.”
The rear of the Codecasa 2020 Jet is deliberately styled to look like the tail of a plane, framed on either side by 3.0-metre tall glass. This area includes a sea-level beach club, the saloon and a main dining zone, and serviced by a lift.

The main deck on the bow is dedicated entirely to the owner’s suite. Guests, meanwhile, must make do in four cabins in the lower deck, which is shared with the forward crew quarters.
Access to the pilothouse on the bridge deck, which also happens to be connected directly to the captain’s cabin via a corridor, is via another lift.
It’s not just a fantasy, either, with Codecasa saying it will start building the 2020 Jet within the next few months.
