A short video has teased the production lines of the Southern Formula 19 ahead of its debut at next week’s 2019 Melbourne Boat Show.
The newest member of the growing Southern Formula family – it will join its larger Southern Formula 21 and Southern Formula 24 siblings – will make its official debut at the June 13-16 show.
The close to showroom-ready boat featured in the video, which appears to be having its final fit-out and wearing what looks like a 250hp Mercury Verado outboard engine, keeps the distinctive Carolina-flared bow that defines the Southern Formula family.
Of note, this build of the 21-degree deadrise deep vee boat includes an optional dive door – an important feature for anyone who will use the bluewater-friendly Southern Formula 19 to chase big fish offshore when the conditions suit.
The show boat, kitted out with a wavebreaker, windscreen and six-rod rocket launcher, also sits on a dual-axle Easytow trailer. Down the rear, it looks to contain the plumbing for the twin live wells that are the same volume as the larger boats, and trim tabs.
The Southern Formula 19 has enough dash space to fit a 16-inch touchscreen, a “useable” cabin with four shelves, and the same high-quality stainless steel fittings as the other boats, the video shows.
Images also show the Southern Formula 19 in a very early stage of its fit-out, with some of the strainless fittings installed, but still without the inserts in the screen, the light grey hull finish and the outboard engine.
Boatsales.com.au has followed the progress of the Southern Formula 19 since early this year.
The helm console shows enough space for the large touchscreen, and what looks like electronic outboard engine gauges, autopilot, switchgear, trim settings and a fly-by-wire throttle, while a stainless steel footrest is below – seats have not yet been fitted.
Over on the other side, the crew’s position has a stainless grab rail and footrest, and a hatch opening into storage space. Both sides of the console also have a separate storage shelf.
The video also shows the Southern Formula 19 with a fully lined cockpit including full-length side pockets, and stainless steel rod holders built into the topdecks.
Down the rear, the battery compartment is covered with a hatch, while a grated cover sits over the bilge.
Southern Formula says the 19 will have a number of options available, including different windscreen and seating configurations depending on the intended use.
The Melbourne Boat Show is held at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre, South Wharf, from June 13-16. Tickets are on sale now.
