2019 Sanctuary Cove boat show: Newport 460
A stunning-looking motor yacht representing the passion of a single family lines up for its global revealThe Newport 460, an Australian designed luxury motor cruiser, will be making its global debut at the 2019 Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show.
The boat’s spearhead design is the handiwork of Newport Motor Yachts’ Allan and Neil Francis, and builds on “the heritage and craftsmanship of the iconic Island Gypsy marque. The boats will feature “ generous social spaces, full walk-around decks for ease of access and safety, helm-side entry door, open plan living, smooth ride, fuel efficiency, low maintenance”.
That low maintenance refers to the boat’s single 480hp Cummins diesel engines and Onan generators coupled to a ZF 2:1 gearbox. The propellers will be driven via a Python-Drive CV shaft drive system.
According to Newport Motor yachts, the drive system “equates to minimal maintenance and sensational performance of up to 20 knots, along with class-leading fuel economy”.
“With its proven planing hull, narrow entry easing into a soft chine, the hull of the Newport 460 will deliver comfort and stability in all sea states,” Newport said.
Entertaining a breeze
“Entertaining is a breeze with the huge wrap-around cockpit with table, ample seating and alfresco dining area flowing seamlessly into the well-equipped galley and lounge as a single level social setting.
“The 1.2-metre swim platform ensures safe boarding, launching the tender, or catching your seafood lunch.”
The Newport 460’s galley includes plenty of storage, dual refrigeration, ice maker, dual stainless steel sinks, Corian stone-look bench tops, a convection microwave oven and electric cooktop.
Dual leather chairs face a helm station equipped with Raymarine electronics, while the lounge and dinette convert to form a double bed.
Single or twin stateroom
The Newport 460 will come with a single stateroom comprising a queen-size island bed, standing height wardrobe and a separate head and shower. An optional twin cabin layout is available.
The Newport 460 will be priced from $899,000. The first boat, which will include $50,000 in options, will be unveiled at the 2019 Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show on May 23.
