2019 Riviera 54 Enclosed Flybridge launched at Sanctuary Cove

This newest mid-50 foot cruiser from Riviera invites owners to spend even more time out on the water, no matter what the weather

The Riviera 54 Enclosed Flybridge was one of four new-look boats from the Gold Coast-based luxury yacht maker launched at last week’s 2019 Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show.

A replacement of the 52, the Riviera 54 Enclosed Flybridge encloses the upper deck to allow owners to extend their time aboard in comfort and safety in a design renowned for its offshore capability.

Riviera said the mid-50ft mark traditionally had been a popular size for Riviera, with the 54’s design taking the enclosed flybridge concept “to another level”.

“Taking centre stage in the 54 is a presidential-style full-beam master suite with an enormous amount of space and storage, king-size bed, large hanging wardrobe and finely appointed ensuite bathroom forward on the port side,” Riviera owner Rodney Longhurst said.

“Being located amidships, this stateroom enjoys maximum stability and quietness, while the unimpeded views from generous topside windows are straight from the Discovery Channel.”

Up top, the flybridge is enclosed on three sides to protect the space from the elements.

“Premium quality Strataglass clears aft transform the flybridge into a relaxed indoor-outdoor entertaining setting,” Riviera said. “Sliding side windows and a large windscreen provide excellent visibility.

“Blended into the dash is an array of advanced technologies, including the Volvo Penta Glass Cockpit navigation system and Riviera’s C-Zone digital switchboard.”

Flybridge comfort

Access to the Riviera 54 Enclosed Flybridge’s upper deck is via an internal staircase. Once upstairs, an L-shaped lounge wraps around a large table, serviced by a wet bar with solid surface bench top, refrigerator, drink holders, a sink with hot and cold taps, and storage.

“On the main deck level, the spacious cockpit offers fixed transom seating, with options for storage or a live bait tank, as well as a three-seater mezzanine lounge to port, upholstered in high-quality outdoor fabric,” Riviera said.

“On the starboard side of the mezzanine, a double barbecue unit is neatly concealed and protected under a moulded lid with gas strut. The unit includes LED lighting, a solid surface bench top and sink, icemaker and generous storage.”

Riviera said the rear bulkhead of the 54 Enclosed Flybridge included a sliding door and awning window framed in stainless steel, and fitted with tinted and tempered glass.

“A highly functional U-shaped galley is located aft in the saloon, convenient to the rear-facing cockpit dinette – it is also centrally located to pass catering to the flybridge via the adjacent floating staircase.”

The galley features a solid surface bench top with stainless steel sink, two-burner electric cooktop, convection microwave oven and an optional drawer dishwasher.

Relaxing saloon

“Basking in natural light, the forward area of the saloon is devoted to relaxation and entertainment, offering a spacious C-shaped lounge to port with a hi-lo dining table,” Riviera said.

“Adjacent to the dining area is a plush three-seater settee, its central module able to slide out as an ottoman and form additional seating around the main table. An additional table then lifts out from the settee and sits between the two remaining seats, forming a casual workspace.”

Accommodation on the 54 is “impressively conceived and wonderfully luxurious”, according to Riviera.

“Along with the aforementioned full-beam master suite, there is an elegantly appointed forward VIP stateroom and a starboard twin Pullman-berth cabin. Storage abounds throughout this deck.

“The premium finish of the master stateroom extends throughout the accommodation deck. The guest bathroom with its designer appointments, offers two-way entry enabling it to serve as the day head.”

Volvo Penta power

Powering the Riviera 54 Enclosed Flybridge are twin 725hp Volvo Penta D11-IPS950 turbo diesel engines connected to IPS pod drives. According to Riviera, this provides ‘impressive fuel economy, high performance and quiet operation, not to mention easy joystick docking and impeccable driving manners”.

With Riviera, all Volvo Penta systems, engines, drives and electronics are covered by a limited five-year warranty complementing Riviera's limited five-year structural warranty.
