Bertram has teased the 50 Express, an upcoming motor yacht that will join its new boat showroom in 2019, featuring a much lower helm than the current range.
The Bertram 50 Express, measuring 61 feet overall (18.6m) but 50 feet (15.2m) at the waterline, “pushes to be a little bolder, drive a little further, and stand up to anything the seas can dream up,” the US-based boat-maker said.
After several years in the wilderness, and a triumphant return overseas, Bertram is making a return to the Australian market via a Perth-based Matilda Bay Marine.

The Bertram 50 Express – basically a non-flybridge version of the pelagic fishing-focused Bertram 50 – measures 5.3m across the beam, with a 1.27m draft. Displacement is 28.7 tonnes.
Emphasising its cruising focus, the Bertram 50 will come equipped with a Seakeeper 9, a stabiliser system optimised for larger craft that can reduce the amount of pitch and roll at sea in most boats by more than 70 per cent.
Powering the Bertram 50 Express are a pair of 1150hp Caterpillar C18 engines, with the boat able to take on more than 4600 litres of fuel.
The newest Bertram’s full specifications will be released at a later date.

Matilda Bay Marina plans to have two sports fisher models – the Bertram 35 and the recently launched deep-vee Bertram 61 – in Australia to showcase the brand.
The flybridge 61 pays homage to the classically lined, 1980s-era Bertram 54, but features an interior “unlike anything the marine industry has ever experienced in this category”. It includes three en-suite heads, and a stateroom layout including a full-beam master suite.
The Bertram 50 Express is expected to have its global reveal in the first half of 2019.
