Recreational fishing rules and regulations differ markedly from state to state, especially in Queensland. To this end, and that of fisheries compliance and education, the 2017-18 Queensland Recreational Boating and Fishing Guide is now available.
Thanks to digital and App versions, you can gain instant access to Queensland’s fishing rules anytime and anywhere on your mobile phone or device.
The Queensland Recreational Fishing App provides up-to-date information on recreational fishing rules and regulations in Queensland, including size and possession limits, species identification, closed seasons, closed water and stocked impoundment maps, angler diary, and access to tide and weather information.
WHERE TO GET THE GUIDE
>> Single copies of the guide can be ordered from the department's Customer Service Centre.
>> A digital copy of the guide is also available for download.
>> The 'Old Fishing' smartphone app which features fishing rules in Queensland, including size and possession limits, is also available for download from Google play and the Apple App Store.
Anglers do not require a licence to fish recreationally in Queensland, except if fishing in some stocked impoundments. But the Queensland Recreational Boating and Fishing Guide and the following links provide detailed information on anglers' responsibilities when fishing in fresh waters and tidal waters.
Fishing rules apply to all ages but children should be of an age where they can be responsible for the use of their own fishing gear.
