We previously reported on the 2016-model 450 Sundancer released at Miami boat show. This is the latest incarnation of Sea Ray’s long-serving Sundancer line. But clearly there's a lot of fresh thinking and a whole new direction for the famous Sea Ray Sundancer sportscruiser and sportyacht line.
Sea Ray says the design approach focusses on the total boating experience, with a harmonious interplay of indoor and outdoor spaces. An open floorplan connects the social zones throughout the boat, with a spacious enclosed sunroom — what we know as a saloon on boats — that seamlessly connects to the cockpit, explains Sea Ray.
The hardtop is standard, as is the electronically opening skylight, the gourmet-ready galley, and media space forward with 50" LED television that turns the cabin into a social hub.
When the show is over, you can convert the conversation space to a double berth using the convenient slide-out base. A windshield vent gives you fresh air if you want or opt for the optional air conditioning.
Below, living quarters include a full-beam master stateroom and an additional forward stateroom, each with its own head. Rich materials and finishes further enhance the overall aesthetics and comfort, says Sea Ray.
Outdoors, an optional gourmet transom centre adds a countertop with grill and sink, while up front is optional foredeck shade for the sunpad.
The spacious cockpit is anchored by adjustable SunGate backrests that easily convert from the best seats in the house to the best lounge in the house, boasts Sea Ray.
Sea Ray says the svelte 450 Sundancer has aggressive performance from standard Axius sterndrive and optional Zeus power packages with joystick docking.
Standard propulsion in the US is the twin 380hp petrol T-MerCruiser 8.2 MAG ECT Bravo IIIx w/Axius combo. You can get upgraded 425hp petrol 8.2s with SeaCore, or twin 407hp or 459hp T-Zeus-Cummins QSB 6.7s diesels with Zeus drives. Local boats are likely to go diesel.
But from these photos, clearly the 450 Sundancer is heading in a new direction, somewhere more towards a European yacht that the sporty American cruiser we've identified previously as a Sea Ray Sundancer. Here are the latest images. Full gallery online at searay.com.
