For nearly a decade, the premier surf Rip 'n Ride has been the highlight of the international ripping and riding calendar, with this year’s event expected to deliver the biggest and sickest tricks from the world’s best stand-up watercraft riders.
A flood of more than 100 online entries created a sell-out event within minutes of the on-line registrations opening, ensuring this weekend's 2016 Rip’n Ride 9 opening tomorrow (October 21) and running across Saturday (October 22) is a ripper.
Yamaha Motor Australia is once again backing the spectacular event along with its local dealer Marina Bayside, Yamaha Motor Finance, and Yamaha Marine Insurance. This is the ninth consecutive year that Yamaha Motor Australia has
“stepped-up” as the major sponsor of Rip‘n Ride.
"Yamaha has been involved with the Rip’n Ride since it’s conception nearly a decade ago. It has proven to be the perfect platform for riders to come together and showcase their unique talents in a fun, safe and controlled environment," said Grant Binskin, National Marketing Manager for Yamaha Marine Products.
"It’s also a great way for Yamaha to promote our unique Superjet model, a watercraft that has been the backbone of stand-up and freestyle sport-riding for over 20 years."
Event organiser Gunther Pfrengle of Ozfreeride says the 2016 rider-entry list includes world-champion-quality riders from the USA, Europe, Asia and
South America.
Sticking with tradition, the annual Rip’n Ride will conclude with an after-party hosted by Northies Hotel, Cronulla, on October 22. The award-presentation is set to award each entry with a sponsored prize, with the grand-prize of a brand-new Yamaha SuperJet valued at more than $11,300.
