2016 MasterCraft NXT22 at Melbourne Boat Show
New 'bigger and badder' entry-level-wake-everything-boat for watersports lovers. Video included...In the wake of MasterCraft USA's unveiling of its new entry-level 22-footer comes news that the new larger NXT boat will debut at this week's 2015 Melbourne Boat Show.
Following on from the popular NXT20, the new NXT22 has been designed to deliver MasterCraft quality and performance at more accessible prices for cost-conscious buyers. The boat also claims to redefine the performance and features of an entry do-it-all crossover.
Bigger and badder than the NXT20, the NXT22 was engineered from the hull-up to perform without compromise across all categories of towsports including wake, slalom and surf.??
Building on the success of last year’s NXT20, the bigger, bolder NXT22 offers more room, more power, more ballast and more maneuverability at entry level.
SOCIAL LAYOUT
Designed for those who like to make a head-turning entrance, the boat’s signature pickle-fork bow sets the stage for a spacious lounge complete with ergonomic seating and 14 cup holders, one for every passenger.
Bucking the trend in entry-level boat interiors, the NXT22 interior is said to be luxurious and durable, with premium finishes and materials including billet-aluminum details, puncture-resistant vinyl and carpeting on the entire liner of the boat. An amped-up optional sound system rivals those found on other premium models.?
At the helm, the spacious hexagonal layout allows for wide open sight lines and the billet-aluminum gauges provide an intuitive interface complete with a 4.3in colour screen, the only boat in the category to include this as a stock option.
The NXT22 also utilizes Zero Off cruise control to regulate the boat’s speed within 100th of a second by incorporating data from satellites and the boat’s own GPS.
??The standard powerplant for the NXT22 is a 5.7L Ilmor Marine engine exclusively built for MasterCraft with the option to upgrade to a 6.2L capacity.
WATERSPORTS KIT
Meantime, built-in, higher quality rotocast hard tanks provide 1200lb/544kg of ballast (option to upgrade to 2000lb/907kg) allowing for custom-shaped pronounced wakes along with an optional centre tab providing for ideal waterskiing conditions.
The optional NXT Surf System has been custom-machined for the NXT22 hull to produce perfectly sculpted waves for wakesurfing.
After a day on the water, the foldable tower allows for easy garage storage.
MasterCraft’s NXT entry line of boats are built on the very same US-based assembly lines that manufacture the company’s other award-winning, premium models such as the ProStar, Xstar and the surf-centric X23. The boat is backed with the industry’s only bow-to-stern, five year factory warranty.

MasterCraft enlisted the help of the adrenaline-happy Godfrey Clan to put the NXT22 to the test on the waters of Orlando’s Lake Ronix. Their antics include anything from hydro-skimming motorcycles to the introduction of frog-infested bounce house towing.
