2015 Maritime Medal Awards
Submit nominations by August 21 and reward our boating legends and unsung heroesActing Deputy Secretary, Freight, Strategy and Planning Division Howard Glenn is calling on the community to send in their nominations for this year’s Maritime Medal awards, which recognise outstanding and sustained contributions to the maritime community.
Mr Glenn said the annual awards are aimed at either individuals or groups.
"First and foremost, we want to acknowledge and thank people whose valuable contributions to the maritime industry often go unnoticed," Mr Glenn said.
"These medals are an opportunity to recognise special individuals or groups who through their dedication, passion and toil are delivering benefits to a countless number of people."
In 2005 the Maritime Advisory Council encouraged and endorsed the creation of the Maritime Medal, with the first medal awarded in 2006.
Mr Glenn said people can access this year’s nomination form online at http://maritimemanagement.transport.nsw.gov.au.
"I encourage the community to get involved and nominate any person or group who might be worthy of an award," Mr Glenn said.
"There are two award categories:
>> The ‘Safety Medal’ focuses on those who promote safe boating while the ‘Community Medal’ rewards those whose efforts benefit the maritime community in NSW.”

Nominations close on Friday August 21. The medals will be awarded at a celebratory lunch onboard the historic tall ship ‘James Craig’ on Thursday 1 October 2015.
