The 26th Hillarys Boat Show opens next week at the popular pleasure-boating venue favoured for many weekend forays from Perth. The inaugural show opened in 1988 after the Boating Industry Association of Western Australia (BIAWA) had the good sense and foresight to celebrate the opening of the excellent Hillarys Boat Harbour amenity.
A lot of water has since flowed out of what has become Perth’s most popular marine precinct, where skippers enjoy safe moorings, servicing and launching facilities, plus restaurants and recreational opportunities. Landlubbers add to the thousands of people who visit the waterfront here every day.
The renamed Hillarys Boat, Dive and Fishing Show is an example how boating caters for a broad range of interests while at the same time remaining affordable for families. A decent spread of trailerboats, many locally built for WA waters, will join the luxury vessels. But big or small, the emphasis at the show is on family entertainment and family boating.
As the name suggests, the Hillarys Boat, Dive and Fishing Show incorporates boats, diving and fishing in the one event. Visitors can check out all the latest products on display, speak to dealers and manufacturers and, of course, make purchases. As summer is nearing an end, expect keen deals.
The 2014 Hillarys Boat, Dive and Fishing Show is open March 7-9 and entry costs just $10 for adults while accompanied kids are free. Gates will be open from 10am until 7.00pm except Sunday when the gates close at 5pm.
Hillarys Boat Harbour is located on Southside and Northside Drives situated at the intersection of Hepburn Avenue, Whitfords Avenue and West Coast Drive in Hillarys. See http://www.hillarysboatshow.com.au/.
