Variety set to make another big Splash!

Variety set to make another big Splash! (June 2008)

The inaugural Variety Splash, held on Port Phillip Bay in February, proved such a success that planning is already underway for 2009...and it's expected to be bigger and better, said organisers

Modelled on the successful road-based fundraising event the Variety Bash, this year's Splash raised in excess of $130,000 for Special Needs Children. The three-day event attracted a fleet of more than 20 power and sail boats, and took participants on a round trip from Docklands via Mornington and Geelong - incorporating social functions and fun along the way.

Variety CEO, Norm Hutton, said he was thrilled with the way the Splash was embraced and was confident the event would continue to grow.

"I was just blown away by the generosity during the inaugural event...the boating community and event sponsors really embraced the heart of Variety," said Hutton.

"We have plenty more surprises in store for the 2009 Variety Splash and we're hoping for an even bigger fleet to raise even more funds for the children!" Hutton said.
