Mercury said drivers no longer need to learn the complex art of pulling someone out-of-the-hole, thanks to MerCruiser's latest technology - Smart Tow and Smart Tow Pro.
Working hand-in-glove with Mercury's SmartCraft Digital Throttle and Shift (DTS), the Smart Tow technology combines two high-tech features in one easy-to-use system, said the manufacturer.
What sets Smart Tow apart, said Mercury, is its Launch Control feature - which lets drivers select the ideal tow profile for the person being pulled out of the water.
Ranging from Profile 1 (easy) to Profile 5 (slalom), the acceleration and rpm overshoot are smooth, consistent and automatic - and the driver can keep both hands on the wheel.
Smart Tow Pro also lets you program customised profiles for individual users.
Then, when the acceleration's over, Mercury says the cruise control feature comes into its own to deliver consistent speed - whether you're towing someone or just out cruising. The manufacturer said Smart Tow works on any rpm above idle, while Smart Tow Pro can also be programmed for a particular speed thanks to advanced GPS technology.
Mercury said the perfect partners for the Smart Tow technology are MerCruiser's Scorpion tow sports inboard engines which are designed to deliver perfect pulling power.
The new DTS 350 Scorpion provides 330hp through a ZF 45C transmission which not only provides fly-by-wire throttle, but has full electronic shifting characteristics, said Mercury, while for the growing V-drive market the DTS 350 Scorpion incorperates the ever-reliable Water V-Drive.
While providing V8 power, the 350 Scorpion is also ultra-green, producing virtually zero carbon monoxide thanks to MerCruiser's new catalytic exhaust which was designed to meet North America's stringent emission regulations, said Mercury.
